Neon Colonial

Three colonial buildings, during Sydney Festival 2002

Sydney, January 2002

Overview:

The Electric Canvas was commissioned by Sydney Festival 02 to create “Neon Colonial”, a celebration of Sydney’s colonial architecture through accurate architectural projection of striking colour and design.

Detailed photographic surveys of the buildings were combined with accurate measurements to create computer templates for The Electric Canvas to apply colour, shape and texture to the architectural features of each building.

The team set out to create as many unique and striking designs for each of the buildings as possible with the view of producing a different image for every day of the Festival. The design techniques employed varied from flat and contrasting colour treatments to handdrawn overlays, graphic treatments, architectural sketching and photographic manipulations.
