Digital Projection & OnlyView
Digital projection - A coming of age
For many years digital or video projection suffered from brightness and resolution limitations that kept it well and truly indoors. With improvements in technology and the emergence serious of LCD and DMD image chips, the video projector finally found a way through the long standing 12,000 lumen barrier. With projectors now capable of brightness up to 30,000 lumens and with cinema resolutions, the game has certainly changed.
As new and more powerful projectors come to market, the opportunities for outdoor data projection for all applications is rapidly widening.
Many tasks once only possible with large-format slide projection are now possible using video data projectors thus opening the door to cinematic animations and real-time control
The Electric Canvas uses the rugged Christie Roadster Data projectors that offer SXGA+ resolution at 20,000 ANSI Lumens brightness.
OnlyView - Powerful real-time control
The creators of the PIGI projector, ETC Audiovisuel of Paris, having taken up the challenge to embrace the emerging high powered data projector market, set out designing a new media control and server application from the ground up. OnlyView was born out of the need to better respond to difficult projection situations, ever changing creative briefs, and reduced set up and rehearsal times on shows with budgets under pressure.
OnlyView is the perfect tool for the flexible multimedia control.
OnlyView offers realtime manipulation and positioning of media assets. External encoders can be used to accurately capture the movement of stage machinery and props for accurate tracking of projected elements.
A variety of media types are manipulated and played on multiple timelines under external synchronization by way of time-code and Midi. Animation clips, stills, and sound can be composited together with powerful control and real time results.
